Our history

fehler

The company Schnitter & Co. was established in 1929, as import agents and brokers
of spices and dried fruit. Due to the general commercial crisis it was a problematical
period.

During the war the commercial activities stopped almost totally. After the war it was
necessary to reconstruct the old business connections, but due the lack of foreign
currency business was rather limited. Due to the energy and fitness of Hermann Ernst
Schnitter and due to the cancellation of import restrictions business became more and
more important again.

In 1959 the son Harold Schnitter entered the company. Then, in the 60s it was necessary
to create a new structure. New customers had to be found and, consequently,a new range
of products. A new store was rented, a transporter and a forklift acquired. The range of the
goods did not only contain goods from the Far East, but also from European countries and
delivered to wholesalers, restaurants and specialists of fine food.

In 1986 the company had to face the death of Hermann Erst Schnitter. His son Harold
Schnitter continued the business alone as the sole propriator profiteering by his long and
profound experiences.

In 2012 German Elwein entered the firm as a partner and colaborator.
